
The strategic plan of the University of Kansas includes an objective to increase workplace satisfaction and recognition to improve staff retention. The Unsung Heroes of KU Research series is a communications campaign aimed at addressing that objective.
Every month, I work with colleagues to select a non-faculty research support staff member to highlight in the monthly newsletter. After selecting the subject, I conduct written interviews with their colleagues and use that information to write a brief story explaining that staff member’s contributions to the KU research enterprise. These stories are also highlighted on the KU Office of Research social media channels.
